| From
the Desk of the Founder and Executive Director
Our
neighborhoods are filled with a rich history, beautiful
landscape, and wonderful residents; however, both wards
7 & 8 have poor statistics in the areas of education,
household income, and poverty.
Having
Options & Providing Education (H.O.P.E.) was created
with “empowering people to reach higher”
in mind. We believe that community leadership starts
from within each individual as we learn to look towards
the interest of others. This belief is embodied in these
words,
“We
cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget the
progress for our community. Our ambitions must include
the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes
and for our own.” –Cesar Chavez
I
have embarked on this new and exciting adventure which
rooted when I began working on several community projects
including; emergency preparedness meetings, job festivals,
“feeding the hungry” projects, and many
more grassroots’ programs.
I
have long since had the idea to create an organization
that not only provides individuals with direct services
but one that develops the leadership skills of those
participants.
We
are seeking to create partnerships, gather unused resources,
and challenge ourselves to think outside the box while
continuing to do the work we so love to do! H.O.P.E.
will work to improve our communities by developing,
nurturing, and cultivating the gifts and talents of
residents in Wards 7 & 8.
We
desire that East of the River no longer be identified
with poor statistics but instead known for its rich
history, beautiful landscape, and wonderful residents.
Sincerely,
Jenaine Butler
Executive Director
